Investors Buy Positioning Not Plans
So went the famous line from Zellweger to Cruise in ‘Jerry MaGuire’.
“You had me at positioning…” Or not – is the reality with investors. Particularly early stage investors.
Your company’s strap line and one paragraph descriptor is the most important weapon you’ll ever have. Get it right. If you do not – they’ll never read your business plan. And certainly never invest.
Your challenge is to encapsulate the unique value and market position of your idea/venture in one perfectly written, simple to understand paragraph. Answer the question “why is your idea so important?” and you’re on the right tracks.
Then investors might even “show you the money!”.
